Quill Adjustable Stool

An adjustable stool with a solid mango-wood seat on a threaded iron column: turn the seat and it rises from 17.7" to 25.6", so the same stool serves a dining table, a kitchen counter or a workbench. The look is raw and defined — the wood shows its grain, the metal its weld — and at about 23 pounds it stays where you put it. Designed by Birgitte Rømer. Muubs, from Denmark, builds furniture around the idea that natural materials should show their character — the grain, the knots, the small variations — so no two pieces are quite alike.
